FAQ

Where will the event be held and when will it start?

FinTech Hackathon will be held in the ABC Hub (Letališka 3, Ljubljana – under Emporium). Registration and breakfast starts at 8am. Don’t be late if you don’t want to miss your morning coffee! At 9am we will start with the event kick-off, keep in mind that you have to be registered before that. For more info check out the schedule!

What should I bring on the event with me?

Bring your laptops, mobile phones, wearable computing devices and whatever technology inspires you. Make sure that you will feel comfortable during intense hacking and if you are going to sleep on the venue, please bring a blanket or a sleeping bag.  Above all, bring your energy and your brain!

What about food?

We will make sure that you don’t run out of energy during intense hacking! Besides breakfast, lunch and dinner, there will always be coffee and snacks provided in the refreshments corner. If you have any special dietary needs, let us know in the application form.

When is the deadline for application?

The final deadline for the application is October 5. We have limited amount of space, so hurry up!

What is the expected output of the event and how are the final presentations going to look like?

We expect that you will develop a working prototype which will represent your idea. Only demos of your hacks are allowed in presentations. No slide-decks or power-points are allowed. Final presentations are limited to a 3 minute pitch and possible Q&A from the judges.

Can I apply to multiple challenges?

Yes, you can. Your idea can present the solution for more challenges. Challenges are there to guide you to think about current issues in FinTech that are of our partners’ interests.  All the hacks presented on Sunday will compete for the Best FinTech Hack award.

Should I form a team before the event?

We do encourage participants to start forming teams before the event. Teams can have 2-4 participants. However, if you don’t manage to find one, apply as an individual. We are going to organize a team forming activity before the hacking starts.

I am not developer or designer, can I still apply?

Yes, but keep in mind that you have to develop a working prototype in 24 hours. At least half of your team must have sufficient development skills.

I am not from Slovenia, is there going to be any transportation organized to the Hackathon from other countries?

We're organizing a shuttle bus from Belgrade and Zagreb to Ljubljana. Please check the location in the application form if you would like to go to Hackathon with our organized bus.  You are welcome to participate also if you are from other countries, but we cannot reimburse your travel expenses to Slovenia.

Who owns my project & IP?

Your team will own all IP rights for your work. Please have a look at the detailed information in the Hackathon rules.

When is the event going to finish?

The hacking is going to finish at 10am on Sunday,  October 16. Afterwards, the final presentations and award ceremony will be held. We are planning to finish around 5pm. For more info check out the schedule!
